At Sand Beach in Acadia National Park, the gulls actually do this (they got Isabella's PB&J once). They fly from behind, over your shoulder and off with whatever you have in hand. Experienced beachgoers keep their sandwiches close to their bodies.

They work in pairs, but once they get a bag of chips or a sandwich, they don't share it. No honor among thieves.
