Howie Mook's Beautifully Restored Buffalo Forge Grill

Received these photos from Howie Mook of Depew, NY. Howie bought his BFG on Craig's List, and made it better than new. Here's Howie's description of how he did it:

"I restored all the metal by either media blasting or a process that is called electrolysis, refer to pictures of my home-made tank, saved a lot of time and it was inexpensive. I remember the neighbors having one of these grills while growing up in the 60`s. I even went back to the old neighborhood and rang their doorbell to ask if they still had it tucked away in the garage, but unfortunately it was thrown out years earlier, because the pan rotted out." 

I will be featuring a few more snaps in coming days of the project. Awesome job!

Buffalo historian and storyteller Steve Cichon writes a fantastic article that points out how incredibly multifunctional our mobile phones are. Virtually every item featured in a 1991 Radio Shack ad he found in an old stack of Buffalo News has been replaced by his phone. If you haven't discovered Steve's Staff Announcer website, you're missing something great. Better than great, really. It's an amazing collection of Buffalo history. You can easily spend days reading it. Thanks to my friends Jon and his brother Eric for the heads up about Steve's Trending Buffalo article. It is viral worthy.

Radio City Music Hall on a Rainy New York Night

The Wurlitzer pipe organ at Radio City is the world's largest in a movie theater; it was built in North Tonawanda, NY (just outside Buffalo on the Niagara River). It was restored in 1999.
