BFG owner and restorer Adam Gibson sends me the following news:
"Well, another great find right in Western New York! My cousin Mark Conboy purchased this grill after I received a phone call from a gentlemen in East Aurora, New York who had found it in his grandfather's barn. We were told the last time it was used was 60 years ago. The gentleman we bought it from said he was gonna use it for blacksmithing but couldn't bear to see it ruined with the intense heat. He also stated he wanted to see the grill stay in the Buffalo area and be put to good use. Mark is gonna take a slow approach to his restoration and keep it in his family for generations to come!"
Way to go Mark and Adam! Looks like a nice one! Keep us posted on how it goes!
Matt Georger works in the metal business and re-did his Buffalo Forge grill with a stainless steel pan and other parts. It is totally cool and utterly unique. Also note that Matt has hubcaps on his wheels, which my grill does not. I didn't even know they had hubcaps. Check out my interview with Matt below and learn how he did it. Shots taken at the Hastings-on-Hudson, NY Farmers Market on Saturday. That's Max Morningstar, Proprietor and Farmer, and an associate, I'm sorry I didn't get her name. The Hudson River and Palisades serve as a backdrop behind them. Max says he saw the Buffalo Bolt boxes in a farmer's barn and asked for them. They hold some really delicious produce, as you can see at a glance. MX Morningstar Farm also has a stand at the farm in Copake, NY, which you can find here along with the hours. Below is a picture of the factory from which the bolts, and perhaps the boxes, were manufactured. It is a screen grab from the North Tonawanda History Museum's website, which is well worth a visit.
