Buffalo Bolt Co. Wooden Boxes for Sale

Nice boxes for sale on craigslist, spotted by Adam Gibson. Adam remembered that I had spotted some earlier at a farmer's market. They were nice and sturdy. 

Buffalo Bolt Company Boxes (and Veggies) at MX Morningstar Farm Stand

Shots taken at the Hastings-on-Hudson, NY Farmers Market on Saturday. That's Max Morningstar, Proprietor and Farmer, and an associate, I'm sorry I didn't get her name. The Hudson River and Palisades serve as a backdrop behind them. Max says he saw the Buffalo Bolt boxes in a farmer's barn and asked for them. They hold some really delicious produce, as you can see at a glance. MX Morningstar Farm also has a stand at the farm in Copake, NY, which you can find here along with the hours. Below is a picture of the factory from which the bolts, and perhaps the boxes, were manufactured. It is a screen grab from the North Tonawanda History Museum's website, which is well worth a visit.

Buffalo Bolt Company Box Spotted at Farmer's Market

My wife and fellow Buffalonian Isabella spotted this crate at the Hastings-on-Hudson Farmer's Market last week. MX Morningstar Farm was using it to display their beautiful produce. I'd never heard of Buffalo Bolt but, like Buffalo Forge, they were an industrial juggernaut. In 1920, they made "600,000,000 pieces Bolts, Nuts, Screws, etc., 5,000 varieties and sizes of Finished Product, 50,000 tons Steel Rolled." I know this because I have visited the North Tonawanda History Museum website, which has posted a pamphlet from that year called: A Graphic History of the Buffalo Bolt Plant. It's just great stuff and I'll be posting more about it this week. If you live in or near the Queen City, you can visit the actual museum at 54 Webster Street in North Tonawanda.
